1899 Born on July 21, 1899 in Oak Park, IL.
1916 First short story published in Tabula, Hemingway’s high school literary magazine.
1917 Graduates from Oak Park High School.
Hired as reporter for Kansas City Star.
1918 Leaves for Italy with American Red Cross.
Wounded by mortar shell; recuperates in hospital.
1919 Discharged from Red Cross, returns to United States.
1921 Marries Hadley Richardson and moves to Paris with her.
1922  Publishes first Toronto Star article from Europe. Hadley’s suitcase is stolen.
1923 Vignettes for in our time published in The Little Review.
Three Stories and Ten Poems. Published in Paris, France by Contact Publish Company                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     First son, John Hadley Nicanor Hemingway is born.

  2. Green Hills of Africa– I recently finished my first read of this work. Hemingway speaks of longing to be able to write about the fourth dimension. What does he mean by this? Is this something he wrote about in other works? Thank you for any insights on this. Casey
