There was an article in the Wall Street Journal this morning by Stephanie Cohen titled “Collecting by the Book”. The article goes on to talk about some of the great literary authors of our time and who sell well in terms of books and letters at auction. I was curious to find out if Ernest Hemingway would be mentioned and sure enough he was right there along with F. Scott Fitzgerald and Vladimir Nabokov and others. But the interesting nugget that I came across that I did not know about was the private book club based in Manhattan called the Grolier Club, established in 1884. I came across one of Hemingway’s books “Three Stories & Ten Poems that has sold at auction for $68,500. If you happen to know about the Grolier Club or are a member please let me know, thank you.
